Summary

The Cadorna Line is approached as an intricate system of entrenched trails, paths, and fortified road sections, each element contributing to the dialogue between interior and exterior spaces. In this context, our studio guided the conceptual exploration, investigating how the structural remnants and circulation routes could inspire a renewed architectural narrative and spatial logic.

Challenge

The complexity of the site, with its historical significance and fragmented forms, required a delicate balance between preserving memory and proposing new functional interpretations. The design had to respond to the topography, the defensive traces, and the urban environment, creating spaces that are both legible and meaningful.

Solutions

Through careful study of the site’s elements, patterns, and historical layers, the studio interpreted the defensive structures as generating elements for spatial organization. Paths, tunnels, and fortifications were reimagined as points of encounter and discovery, allowing the intervention to bridge past and present while fostering a renewed relationship between building, landscape, and urban context.
